Market Stainton

The church which is situated on the green, is medieval in origin but has been much altered and, after extensive repair work to the roof, remains in a state of considerable interior disrepair and is at present closed for worship.  The church is currently in the process of being made redundant.

Market Stainton is a village of some 35 residents on the east side of the B1225, about 1½ miles from Benniworth.  The village is an example of a medieval Lincolnshire village, with its crescent shaped green with about a dozen houses around it.  There is a mixture of housing, mostly detached farmhouses, a splendid Hall as well as farm cottages and new builds.

Some of the residents are employed in farming, others involved in businesses operating locally, with other retired residents and self-employed farm workers.  Children from the village attend local primary and secondary schools.   There are no village amenities and transport is supplied by a Lincolnshire County Council Inter-Connect bus servicing the two nearest market towns and outlying villages.
